Springfield, MO. — February 13,2002 — Aurora, Missouri, R-VIII School District has installed the 3Com Superstack NBX® Telecommunications System in an effort to improve communications within and outside the district. Aurora had previously installed the NBX® 100 System in the Pate Early Childhood Development Center. And, due in large part to the success of this implementation chose the Superstack NBX® as the basis for the entire R-VIII Districts' telecommunications needs. To promote student and teacher safety, the District chose to place individual phones into all of the classrooms at the Pate site as well as Aurora Junior High and Aurora Middle School. This allows vital communications to be only a button press away from any area of the schools. The Superstack NBX® also served as a basis for the new upgraded paging system for the Junior High and Middle School. With this fully integrated system, any classroom can be paged and allow full handsfree answerback from any allowed NBX® Telephone set. Also, adding to the complete safety issue, an emergency button can be pressed in the classrooms that will notify the main office telephones of an emergency, complete with a "caller-id" of the classroom or location that the emergency call is being originated from. A handsfree conversation can be immediately established by merely picking up the handset in the office. Another benefit is the fact that a phone can be added to any position in any school simply by plugging into the existing Aurora District R-VIII data local area network.
